Week 11: Something Old

OK, I had so many ideas for this that I didn't even get to the all!!! Here are the ones I did get to. this first batch are historical buildings from around here that I photographed basically driving by them!

This was a one-room school house that was open from 1842-1954. I tried to make the photograph look antique here as well. The towns historical society has this open to the public twice a year, and I have made it to one of them recently. It was neat to learn the whole history of this building!
Here is the Folsom Tavern in Exeter, NH. Originally build as a tavern in 1775. It operated as such until 1805. There after it was a gift shop for rail passengers, a restaurant, oil company office, and is now called the American Interdependence Museum.
Here is the Academy Building of Phillips Exeter Academy. The school was originally opened in 1761. This particular building was built between build 1914 and 1915. This school has continued to grow and have buildings added throughout it's existence. This Academy is also famous for the fact that Abraham Lincoln's son attended here. Abraham Lincoln himself visited the school during that time.

I am not completely sure to the history of this building. I believe it was a cobbler shop that operated in the mid 1800s. The second shot was my attempt at antiquing the photo.

And now onto my official subject for something old. This ring was my grandmothers. It was given to her by my grandfather for their 15th wedding anniversary. They were married in 1951 or 52. So this ring was from about 1966. It may not be as old as the buildings above, but I choose this because it is near and dear to me. My grandmother passed this ring onto my mother when she married. Then mom passed it to me after my grandmother passed away. I feel honored that I was chosen to have this ring. I may not wear it, but I do hold it close in my heart. It reminds me of the love my grandparents had for each other and how they were together for life. That is a rare thing to see in this country these days, and I can only hope my husband and I grow old together as they did!

This last photograph was my official choice for this weeks challenge. Up next week: something new!
