Week 7: eyes

I just posted week 8, the realized, I forgot to post last weeks submission! Oops!!! So, here it is. I knew right away the photograph wanted. Getting it done was another thing! It involved getting all three of my boys in one shot, showing only their eyes. Well, it surely wasn't easy. As it never is getting all of them at the same time. But I did it. Unfortunately, my camera setting were off. Again, oops. I really didn't want to try to get them together again, so I did my best post processing. Anyway, here it is:

Week 8: Bad Habit

So, this week for the 52-capture Challenge, the theme was "bad habit". I had a ton of ideas for this one. I really wanted to get a picture of someone smoking. The only people I could think of were my in-laws. But, since I didn't see them this week, I couldn't use them. So, I did a whole bunch of other photo of different bad habits. My first choice was this:

Funny, right. Well, someone else doing this challenge thought so too. The used their child, and posted it before me, so I needed other ideas.  Below are a few of my other photos that didn't make the official submission, but still show a bad habit.

(nail biting)
(pencil chewing)
(too much sodium)

And, finally, my official photograph for bad habit was.......

Littering. Most definitely a bad habit! It breaks my heart to see things like this. I do my best to keep our beautiful earth as clean and healthy as possible. People who do this are just sad in my eye.....

Anyway, next week, should be more uplifting, as the theme is "childhood memory". See you later!

Week 6 : From a Low Angle

Here I am on week 6 of the 52 Capture Challenge. This week was "from a low angle". I thought this would be easy. I just thought I need to look at things from my one-year-old's perspective. He is down low, and most everything to him is seen at a low angle. Now, just to find something cool to photograph. Well, since the weather is getting nicer up here in New England, we have been going back outside. My kids love this cheesy rock wall in my front yard. Seeing them play with it gave me an idea. And then, my week 6 picture is made!

Up next week for the 52-Capture Challenge: eyes!

Week 5 ~ Fruit, and 2 sessions!

So this past weekend, I had to great sessions in my studio. After having it set up for a whole month, I have finally started to figure out lighting. I have my studio set up in a dark room with only one window. And to make matters worse, there is dark carpet and dark wood wainscoting. I have been spending time rearranging my "continuous" lights, adding white cardboard (to reflect light), playing with camera settings, Photoshop editing, and so on.  Below is one final photograph from each session I had.

I think I am getting there, slowly, but surly! I must admit, I was so frustrated at one point, I was about ready to give up doing studio shots altogether. But to make this a steady thing, I must stick with it and make this work. Living in New England, one can only photograph outside for so long before the weather is no longer cooperative! So, I am happier now that I did not give up. I feel that I still have a way to go, but I love doing this, and plan on doing it no matter what!

Well, It's also time to post week 5 for the 52-Capture Challenge. This week was fruit. This was so easy for me! I love strawberries! And strawberries have great detail for such a small fruit. But, instead of just a plain strawberry, I added in a little something extra! Here it is:

No sessions planned for this coming weekend, where as it is my birthday, and the Superbowl! I will be back with week 6 next week though Week 6 is from a low angle! I do have a session coming up on the 11th as well, that I will share. Until then, au revoir.
